Cheek lift with dermal fillers

With the onset of time comes many ageing effects that can make us look tired, less youthful and make us feel that we don’t reflect on the outside, how we feel on the inside.

Two of the most common and prevalent changes in facial anatomy which contribute extensively to ageing is both fat and bone loss through ageing.

When we are young, our cheeks are rounder, smoother and have more volume and this is due to the extensive collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin as well as fat within the facial contours. As we grow older, these elements are lost and we loose that rounded and high cheek look. The skin can lose 1% of its collagen and thickness per year after the age of 30! We also lose bone mass as a matter of course and this means that our cheek bones can appear less pronounced and supportive of the facial structure for that youthful appearance. This is only exaggerated after the menopause in women where it is estimated that 1 year of ageing is equivalent to 7 years of ages before the menopause!

Other factors which contribute to fat loss in the face include extensive exercise (runners’ face), dramatic weight loss, stress and illness in both younger and older patients and these will all be reflected in the face. The cheekbones and fat around this area contribute to us maintaining a fresh, young appearance and should we begin to lose volume and lift in this area, we can look at facial fillers to lift the cheeks.

Dr Dan Dhunna is a highly regarded and renowned specialist in dermal filler and wrinkle smoothing injections and offers a range of approved and tested products such as Juvederm Voluma to his patients. He is known as “The Michelangelo of BOTOX and Da Vinci of Dermal Fillers.”

These temporary dermal and facial cheek fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found in the human body and responsible for aiding collagen production. They also hydrate the skin as they attract 1000 molecules of water for every molecule of themselves. They are produced in high-end laboratories where they can be adjusted for viscosity allowing them to be injected throughout the skin and facial tissues to give a plumper, more lifted but natural look.

Cheek Fillers like Juvederm Voluma now all contain anaesthesia but if necessary, a topical anaesthetic can be applied one hour prior to treatment to minimise any discomfort. You will be able to resume your daily activities post treatment and will be advised on any aftercare needed. Results from hyaluronic acid cheek filler injections can last up to 2 years and Dr Dhunna will monitor your results and progress, appropriately.

Dr Dan Dhunna will always consult with his patients prior to any treatment and during this time with him, you will be able to discuss at length, your concerns and desires. He will then assess the anatomy and proportions of your face and begin to create a treatment plan of how your looks could be improved. Dr Dhunna is a highly experienced professional in his field and an artist as well as a doctor. His aim is not to over treat a patient as his mantra is “less is more” to give a natural and flawless result.
