Sculptra London Harley Street & Midlands

Known as the original liquid face-lift, Sculptra is a unique volumising collagen stimulator that is designed to gently lift loose tissue of the face by stimulating your bodies own collagen production.

What is Sculptra made of?

Sculptra is made of Poly-L-Lactic Acid which has been used in orthopaedic medicine and in the production of sutures (stitch material). It was first licensed for use as a collagen stimulator 15 years ago under the brand name “Newfill” in the role of replacing facial volume lost in patients with HIV lipo-dystrophy.

Recognising the potential use of it to improve facial contours and replace lost volume from an anti-ageing perspective; it was rebranded Sculptra for the cosmetic market.

What does treatment involve?

Sculptra solution is injected with a fine needle along the areas of facial weakness.
Several treatments are required to create enough of your own body’s collagen to restore lost volume or improve lines and folds.

How many treatments will I need?

Everyone is different. It has been estimated that people in their 30s-40s need 3-4 vials of Sculptra spread over 2-3 treatments; people in their 50s-60s may need 5-6 vials spread over 3-4 treatments.
Each treatment is roughly 6-8 weeks apart and builds on the collagen lift created by previous treatments, so giving you natural looking results.

What is the difference between Sculptra and Dermal Fillers?

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that makes your body produce more of its own natural collagen to lift loose tissue and shape the face. This takes time and several treatments to get the end result.

Although Dermal Fillers do stimulate collagen production, their major results are based on lifting tissue and restoring volume INSTANTLY by the precise placement of Hyaluronic Acid gels into the skin and subcutaneous areas of the face.

Does it hurt?

Sculptra is made up with pain killing lidocaine anaesthetic so is comfortable for the patient. In addition topical anaesthetic or cold ice may be used to further numb the area ahead or during treatment.

How long does it last?

Results vary from person from person, but in recent studies Sculptra can maintain results in the face for on average 18-24 months from the end of the treatment sessions.
