The rise of advanced injectable treatments

advanced injectable treatmentsMost of us are aware of what Botox® and dermal filler injections can do, by means of anti-ageing. Those precious substances that can literally erase lines and wrinkles, plump the skin, contour facial features and give us a youthful glow, for anything from 4 to 24 months at a time, depending on the treatment and substance used. However, cosmetic medicine is ever-evolving and what used to be standard procedures are now becoming more innovative, inventive and versatile. Dr Dan Dhunna has been practicing cosmetic for over 2 decades and has moved with the times and continually improves his techniques, as well as developing his own exclusive treatments, so that he can reach a wider audience to help them to look younger, fresher and full of vitality.

So what’s new?

Advanced injectable treatments involve the more complex uses of substances such as Botox® and hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to improve our looks, skin condition and facial features; but it also takes on new kids on the block when it comes to substances. Skin boosters and skin remodelling systems, which do not relax facial muscles or physically fill the gaps, but work with the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, to heal and repair and to replenish vital moisture which has been lost over the years through the natural ageing process or lifestyle choices such as sun-exposure or smoking, are now becoming more and more popular.

Let’s break these advanced treatments down:-

Botox® – traditionally used in the upper face for concerns such as crow’s feet, glabellar lines, forehead lines, the possibilities for Botox® in other areas of the face and the body are now seemingly endless!

Restylane®

This is a HA dermal filler built on Swedish NASHA technology. This range of fillers includes the brand PERLANE, manufactured by Galderma Q-Med. Restylane contains particles which give the gel specific properties, which make it more rigid than a standard dermal filler. This means that it can be used in areas of high facial movement, such as strong mouth lines. Restylane can be used in conjunction with Juvéderm or Belotero, the smoother dermal fillers, to create a holistic approach to anti-ageing cosmetic injectables.

Skin Boosters

The Restylane Skin Booster range is formulated to specifically provide deep skin hydration and revitalisation. It is made from hyaluronic acid and comes in two formulations – Restylane Vital and Restylane Vital Light. These are suitable for all skin types and help to hydrate the skin and improve its resilience. Restylane is manufactured with pain killing 0.3% lidocaine and is administered via a comfortable and unique pen injector, which releases precise amounts of the product, with no wastage. Restylane skin boosters are the perfect way to freshen tired looking skin and boost moisture levels. Restylane is suitable for most age groups and is clinically-proven to treat the face, neck, decolletage and the hands. It can also be used in bodily areas where the skin has lost its elasticity, such as the elbows and knees. A course of treatment is usually recommended to give the skin a healthy glow and increased resilience, as well as improve the appearance of fine lies and imperfections such as acne scars.
