The best injectable treatments for 2022

best botox treatments for 2022If you follow cosmetic surgery treatments and trends, you will know that wrinkle-smoothing injections (Botox®) are the most popular injectable non-surgical procedures for reducing dynamic lines and wrinkles. However, as time passes, more and more uses for Botulinum Toxin Type A for anti-ageing are discovered, which means that practitioners such as Dr Dan Dhunna, can offer varied and versatile treatments using this substance, to a wider scope of his patients.

In 2022 we will see more and more people opting for non-surgical injectable treatments, as awareness grows and the stigma surrounding cosmetic procedures subsides. It’s no longer seen as taboo for a man or woman of any age, to want to improve their looks and feel more confident and this increases demand for more innovative, imaginative and effective facial treatments, using injectable substances such as Botox®.

So what is Botox®?

Botox® is actually the brand name of a prescription only injectable medication, manufactured by Allergan – an international world leader in cosmetic science and pharmaceuticals. Botox® is derived from a bacteria, in the same way as Penicillin is derived from mould. The Botox® protein has been used in medicine for over 50 years to safely treat various conditions in children as well as adults. Botox® is licensed for 21 medical uses across the globe, including squints, muscle spasms, cerebral palsy, excess sweating, bladder instability and chronic migraine. It has been used for over 20 years for its benefits with reducing the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles and now has more uses than ever for anti-ageing.

Which Botox® treatments does Dr Dan Dhunna offer?

From his clinics in London and the Midlands, Dr Dan Dhunna, a master of administering Botox® and with 20 years’ experience, offers not only the traditional anti-wrinkle injections for upper facial wrinkles, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet and Glabellar lines (the number 11 lines between the eyebrows at the top of the nose), but can help more and more patients with minor ageing and skin concerns, using this drug. These treatments are referred to as Advanced Botox® treatments.

What is Advanced Botox®?

Advanced Botox® refers to more complex work in the upper face and all injections in the midface, lower face and neck area. Advanced Botox® can be combined with dermal fillers as well as dermal threads for a fully holistic approach to anti-ageing.

Advanced Botox® techniques require an extensive knowledge of the facial structure and an expert eye for balance of the facial features. Beginners in the practice of Botox® treatments should undergo extensive training before attempting these treatments. Dr Dan Dhunna has full training and a vast amount of experience in Advanced Botox® techniques, so you can be sure that you are receiving expert care in the safest way possible.

The common treatments using Advanced Botox® techniques include:-

  • Axillary Hyperhidrosis (excess sweating)
  • Bunny lines (the lines down the sides of the nose)
  • Lipstick lines (lines which appear around the mouth, most common with smokers)
  • Eyebrow lift
  • Asymmetry
  • Chin dimpling
  • Lifting up the corners of the mouth
  • Nefertiti jawline lift
  • Platysmal neck bands
  • Lifting droopy noses
  • Correcting gummy smiles and mouth asymmetry
  • Cheek lines
  • Square jaw and teeth grinding

Am I suitable for Advanced Botox® with Dr Dan Dhunna?

If you feel that you are experiencing any of the above facial or bodily concerns, and would like to undergo an Advanced Botox® treatment with Dr Dan Dhunna at one of his clinics in London or the Midlands, you will be required to attend a preliminary appointment for a consultation with the doctor himself. At this initial meeting, you can discuss what is bothering you. The doctor will also investigate further by means of an examination. He will also check your medical history as there are some contraindications, such as pregnancy and breast-feeding, which can prevent a Botox® treatment from going ahead at a particular time. If you are fit, well and healthy and Dr Dan Dhunna feels that you would benefit from Advanced Botox® or indeed, one of the more traditional Botox® treatments for anti-ageing, you can go ahead and book in for your treatment.

What happens in a Botox® treatment?

After filling in some standard consent forms, the area for treatment will be cleaned. If it is a facial treatment you are undergoing, then the doctor will probably mark out the injection points with a white skin pencil. He will then administer the Botox® using a very fine needle. This should not be painful and usually takes around 10 minutes, sometimes less. If you are having Botox® for hyperhidrosis, then a topical anaesthetic may be used prior to the treatment. This can take around 30 minutes to take effect. Once the Botox® has been administered, you can return to your daily activities, but avoiding bending forward (facial treatment), hot saunas, showers, steam or baths for 48 hours and avoiding rubbing the treatment area for 48 hours. Results can start to take effect in as little as 24 hours, but expect around 2 weeks for the full results to be seen or in cases of excess sweating, felt.

How long do the results from a Botox® treatment last?

This all depends on how you respond to treatment, as an individual. Some patients can enjoy smoother skin for up to 8 months. However, as a rule, we generally recommend having 6 monthly treatments, for optimum results. If you smoke, sun bathe, drink a lot of alcohol and do not take care of your skin, expect the results to fade in less time. Botox® can prevent further wrinkles from forming, if you have regular treatments, but is not going to stop the ageing process completely, plump the skin or improve skin quality. For this you will need alternative treatments such as dermal fillers or skin boosters.

In 2022 we expect to be seriously busy at Dr Dan Dhunna’s clinics, as more and more people decide on Botox® as their go-to treatment. It’s fast to administer (Botox® should only be administered by a medical practitioner such as Dr Dan Dhunna), there is little to no side effects and the results speak for themselves. Will you take the plunge to look and feel more youthful and confident in 2022? Contact one of our clinics and book your initial consultation for Botox® or Advanced Botox® and make the step to feeling great in the new year.
