Spring skincare tips from leading cosmetic doctor

Dr Dan Dhunna spring skincare tipsAs the sunshine edges it’s way in to sight, albeit slowly in the UK, the signs of spring are indeed, beginning to show. Daffodils are in bloom and the feint hint of birdsong floats in the air. The winter, we hope, will soon be a distant memory and with it, the darker days, cold nights and dreary outlook.

Spring is a time for renewal, rebirth and regeneration and not just in nature, but for our skin too. The sunshine, however, can offer serious hazards for our skin, so preparing it now, for summer to come will pay dividends.

Dr Dan Dhunna is one of the world’s leading cosmetic skincare doctors and practising from his many clinics in the UK, knows exactly what to do when it comes to looking after your skin in Springtime and the warmer months, so you regain a youthful and healthy glow, whilst protecting and safeguarding it from the sun’s often harmful rays.

Drink plenty of water

As the weather finally heats up, so do we and we need more water to keep hydrated. This goes for our skin too. The best thing we can ever do for a plump, smooth and hydrated complexion is to drink plenty of H2O. Water evaporates from our skin more readily in the summer and with the added UVA and UVB rays from the sun, can become dry and dehydrated, so replenishing it’s hydration stores from within is a win-win!.

Eat well!

The skin benefits from nourishment as every other organ of the body. Without vitamins, minerals and a balanced, nutritious diet, it can become lacklustre, dull, fragile and lax. Eating a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, complex carbs and ‘good’ fats such as avocados, oily fish and olive oil will help your skin maintain a beautiful glow as well as arming it against harmful free radicals in the environment.

SPF

No one should be without an SPF and one could argue that the ritual of applying a high-factor, broad-spectrum sunscreen should ideally be carried out all year round. However, with the sun becoming stronger and more frequent, sun-damage and other nasty risk factors can occur in Spring and Summer, so invest in a really good sunscreen of factor 30 or above and try and reapply every 2 hours, especially on the sunnier days.

Avoid strong sunlight

As well as sunscreen, nothing is better for keeping the wrinkles at bay than keeping your face out of the sun when it’s at its strongest. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat on sunnier days or when you are on your spring weekend away in hotter climbs will protect your skin from ageing and damaging UVA and UVB rays. If you’re concerned you won’t get a tan, there are plenty of high-quality fake and gradual tans out there, which won’t age or degrade your skin.

Investing in the protection of your skin now will reap the benefits later on down the line and save you a fortune on having pigmentation, lines, wrinkles and potentially cancerous growths removed in the future.

Peel to reveal!

The winter months can make us want to hibernate. We may not feel like getting out and about so much, our skins dry out with days and nights indoors with the central heating on full blast and we may notice that our complexions become dull and dehydrated. In other cases, oil and congested pores can lead to increased bouts of acne, spots and blackheads in wintertime.

To combat winter-battered skin and to bring it from a dull cocoon to a stunning butterfly, Dr Dan Dhunna offers a range of chemical peels to slough away dead skin cells, improve skin circulation and cell turnover and reveal a super-smooth, glassy looking skin, fresh and rejuvenated in time for Spring.

Chemical peels are specially selected acids, usually derived from natural substances such as sugar or milk. Dr Dhunna uses The Perfect Peel, a medical-grade peel which combines 12% or less of a range of acids such as Kojic Acid, TCA and Retinoic acid, and skin-saving ingredients such as Glutathione, Vitamin C, minerals and Phenol.

The Perfect Peel can neutralise the harmful effects of free radicals, can lighten pigmentation and increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in more youthful looking skin

The Perfect Peel can offer the following results:
