Threadlifts – An Introduction

Threadlifts: As the effects of ageing start to take their toll, we may notice changes in our skin quality, the shape of our faces (from a youthful heart to a more square appearance) and the development of tell-tale concerns such as jowls, a sagging neck and a double chin.

At Dr Dan Dhunna’s clinics in London, Solihull, Dudley, Stratford Upon Avon and Bridgnorth he uses a variety of effective and safe, cosmetic treatments to address the signs of early and advanced ageing. One such treatment is thread lifting using PDO threads, Silhouette Soft and V Lift threads.

In the past, the ‘one-stitch facelift’ was the only real alternative to a surgical face lift to treat areas such as the lateral brow or temple. However, this method is still considered invasive as it involves the cutting of tissue and tying stitches. Results from the one-stitch facelift could be disappointing and not as long lasting as expected.

Thread lifting is non-surgical and does not involve the cutting of skin or the tying of stitches, rather they rely on the production of collagen to create, over time a tightening of the skin and resulting lifting. Thread lifting can be administered to both men and women and is suitable for facial and body issues.

What is a threadlift like?

During a treatment of thread lifting with Dr Dan Dhunna, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to the area of concern, around 45 to 60 minutes prior to the procedure. Dr Dan Dhunna will then insert very fine sutures underneath your skin to a depth of approximately 3 to 5 millimetres. Depending on the design of the thread, they will be held in place using a pulling technique or with bi-directional cones, along the length of the threads.

Once the threads are in place, Dr Dan Dhunna will gently compress the skin tissue to reshape it and achieve a ‘lifting and tightening’ effect. The remaining ends of the sutures will then be cut away, leaving no trace of them on the surface of the skin.

Treatment with dermal threads can take anything between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your individual requirements, number of treatment areas and the number of sutures you may need. You’ll be able to leave the clinic and return to your daily activities but may wish to take things easy for a couple of days whilst you recoup.

You may experience some swelling, bruising and tenderness after your treatment with thread lifts. This is completely normal and should subside in a couple of days.

Threadlifts – Your Results

You should see some results straight away, due to the ‘pulling’ mechanism that is applied during the treatment. Over time, as the collagen and elastin fibres within your skin tissues are produced, you will start to see a significant improvement in your skin’s tone, texture and overall quality. You’ll also experience further skin tightening and lifting.

Results from thread lifting can last for up to 2 years. This makes the treatment incredibly convenient for those with busy lives, as well as cost-effective!

Dr Dan Dhunna has been performing cosmetic enhancement procedures for many years and treats thousands of patients every year with this revolutionary facial lifting technique. Expect to see an improvement in your facial contours and your skin become tighter, toned and more plump-looking as well as jowls, sagging neck skin and that crêpey effect we associate with ageing skin, to improve.
