Cheek and jawline filler clinic – Birmingham

The ageing process can have a significant effect on the facial contours. This is mostly due to the depletion of facial tissues such as muscle and fat, which hold the skin taught and firm to the face. The degradation of bone mass and loss of moisture from the skin can result in sagging skin and volume reduction, not to mention jowls and sunken cheeks. From his cheek and jawline filler clinics in Birmingham, Dr Dan Dhunna conducts non-surgical cheek and jawline augmentation using injectable dermal fillers, to sculpt, lift and revitalise the visage.

What are dermal fillers and how do they work?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances of various viscosities (thicknesses) and many reputable dermal fillers contain a substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is naturally present in the eyes, connective tissues, joints and within the skin tissues. This can lead to the loss of vital components of healthy skin, such as collagen and elastin, which rely on the hydrating properties of HA. The reason for this is that when HA is lost, our cells can no longer hold enough water and collagen degrades, leading to reduced skin elasticity (skin sagging). By using dermal fillers as to support and restructure the skin tissues, we can replenish the lost HA, plump out the dermal layers and increase the production of collagen within the skin. As a result, the facial contours are supported, lifted and a more youthful facial contour is achieved.

What happens during a cheek and jawline treatment at Dr Dan Dhunna’s clinic in Birmingham?

After an initial consultation with Dr Dan Dhunna at one of his Birmingham clinics and when you are fully satisfied that you would like to go ahead with the treatment, your cheek or jawline augmentation can proceed. A topical numbing cream will be applied to the specific areas of the face requiring treatment. Once this has taken effect, Dr Dan Dhunna will, use a cannula (a blunt ended needle, specially designed for facial dermal filler injections )to administer small amounts of the chosen dermal filler. Immediately after your cheek or jawline dermal filler treatment, you will see some results, as the HA dermal filler has a physical effect on the skin tissues. However, it’s worth considering that there may be a period of slight swelling and a little bruising for a couple of days afterwards, so expect your optimum results to be seen once this subsides, at around 1 to 2 weeks.

How long do results from dermal fillers for the cheeks and jawline last?

Juvaderm dermal filler products, by Allergan are the usual fillers of choice for Dr Dan Dhunna, due to their exacting safety record and ultimate efficacy as well as longevity of results. Therefore, you may expect your cheek or jawline filler treatment to last anything from 1 – 2 years.

If you take good care of your skin and general health, such as avoiding excessive exposure to the sun and lifestyle choices such as smoking, your results will last longer than if you do these things. Once Dr Dan Dhunna has worked his magic, it’s up to you to continue his good work and in looking after yourself and your skin, you can maximise the results for longer.
