What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gel-like substances which contain hyaluronic acid (HA) and produce a temporary facial rejuvenation effect. HA is a substance that occurs naturally within the body and is found in the eyes, connective tissues, joints and the skin. As we get older, our bodies start to lose HA (the process tends to be accelerated by lifestyle choices such as smoking excessive sun exposure). Other vital components of healthy skin, such as collagen and elastin are also reduced, due to the ageing process. Collagen keeps cartilage and skin tissues elastic whilst HA holds moisture. As HA depletes, the cells can no longer hold enough water to support collagen and it begins to degenerate, leading to the loss of skin elasticity and tone. By injecting the underlying layers of the skin with HA dermal fillers, we can replenish the lost HA, plump out the dermal layers and increase the production of collagen within the tissues.

• Jawline (sculpting a more defined jawline and reducing the appearance of jowls)
• Nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty – correct flaws and re-shape the nose)
