Botox Birmingham transforming lives

The Second City of the United Kingdom, Birmingham is the Heart of England. Rich with diversity and culture and lying in the centre of the country, Birmingham is easy to reach by road, rail and air.

Botox is the most popular anti-ageing treatment in the UK today. It can be quick to administer and incredibly versatile, when used by a highly-skilled and fully-qualified medical professional such as Dr Dan Dhunna. From his clinics in Solihull and Dudley, near Birmingham, Dr Dhunna treats thousands of patients a year with this highly sought-after treatment. Botox in the hands of an experienced practitioner can reduce the visible signs of ageing and even be a preventative measure, if started at around age 30, as it stops the formation of expression and dynamic lines and wrinkles around the upper facial areas.

More and more men and women in Birmingham are turning to the Botox clinic of Dr Dan Dhunna, to help retain their youthful appearance and feelings of confidence. Botox is now used regularly by men and women of all ages and many have regular Botox injections as part of a holistic treatment plan and at-home regimen to stave off the hands of time and improve their skin appearance.

Botox interesting facts

  • Botox will help smooth your dynamic wrinkles but it won’t improve the quality of your skin. Remember to stick to a good skincare routine including sun block, and stick to a healthy lifestyle with exercise and good food to help prolong a healthy, glowing complexion. Drinking plenty of water will keep you hydrated and your skin smooth and clear. You may also want to team your Botox treatment with dermal fillers or skin boosters to improve skin tone and elasticity. Ask Dr Dhunna about these treatments when you attend your consultation with him at our Birmingham clinics.
  • Botox was originally used in medicine to stop involuntary spasms as well as cure incontinence and relieve migraines. It’s a form of toxin and is actually called Botulinum Toxin Type A, one of the most potent toxins on the planet. However, fear not, it is completely safe when injected in small doses in to the muscles just underneath skin and there have been very few cases of side-effects following injections with Botox in all the decades it has been used for anti-ageing purposes. However, Botox is a registered and regulated prescribed medication, only to be used by qualified doctors, dentists and prescribing nurses. Dr Dan Dhunna has been administering Botox for many years and is a master of this practice.
  • Botox could one day be used as a cure for depression. It’s in the middle stages of development and at this stage no-one is sure why it works, but it’s thought that the treatment works because our feelings are actually connected to the muscles in our foreheads. To oversimplify: frowning may really make you sad.

  • Botox takes around 10 minutes to administer and the results can last many months. Before any treatment with Dr Dan Dhunna at his Birmingham locations, he will conduct a no obligation initial consultation, in order to make preliminary checks to ensure you are fit and well for treatment and that you will indeed benefit from this non-surgical procedure.
  • More and more men in recent years have turned to Botox to help smooth laughter lines, frown lines, forehead lines and wrinkles around the eyes. As social trends change and evolve, it’s now more accepted for men to undergo a Botox treatment and are rivalling their female counterparts in the battle to stay youthful, vibrant and healthy-looking, for longer. As divorce rates rise and more people in their late 50s and early 60s get back on the dating scene, we are also seeing a rise in those more mature patients undergoing injectable cosmetic treatments such as Botox, here from our clinics in Birmingham.
  • There are several ways to administer Botox and it’s definitely not a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Baby Botox for example, uses smaller doses of the substance and is perfect for those who are just starting out having the treatment, or for slightly younger patients who may be looking to have Botox for their very first lines or indeed as a preventative measure to stave off dynamic wrinkles. Botox can also be used in the neck area as well as to eliminate a ‘cobbled’ chin appearance (the lumps and bumps that appear on the chin as someone speaks). Hence the versatility of this widely-used and highly-revered treatment for anti-ageing purposes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BOTOX ®?

BOTOX ® is the brand name for a Prescription Only medicine made by Allergan, an International Pharmaceutical Company and World Leader in Cosmetic Science.

Derived from a bacteria in much the same way Penicillin is derived from mould, the BOTOX ® protein has been extensively used in over 50 years to safely treat conditions in adults and children.

It has 21 different licensed medical uses across the world including treatments of squints, muscle spasms, cerebral palsy, excess sweating (hyperhidrosis), bladder instability and chronic migraine.

It has been used for over 20 years by Doctors for its benefits in Cosmetic Medicine and has a license for Cosmetic Use in over 75 countries including the UK.

How Does It Work?

BOTOX ® acts as a muscle relaxant by temporarily preventing the nerve signals from reaching the muscle.

Normally, when we express our faces, muscles pull and draw the skin into characteristic lines, wrinkles and folds such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. These can leave you looking tired, angry and older than your years.

BOTOX ® injections relax these muscles causing a softening and sometimes even eradication in these strong dynamic lines leaving a softer, refreshed look. Common areas for treatment include

  • Frown lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Crows feet

What does the treatment involve and are the results natural?

Dr Dan Dhunna is regarded as a Master of BOTOX ® injections. He prides himself on creating an artistic, natural effect and is often nicknamed the “Michelangelo of BOTOX ®” for his creative flair!

Using his extensive medical and artistic knowledge, small amounts of BOTOX ® are injected with a very fine micro-needle precisely into the overactive facial muscles, leaving surrounding muscles untouched. His technique is virtually painless and does not require any anaesthesia.
This gives a very natural effect and doesn’t leave the face expressionless.

Results become evident within a few days but may take up to 2 weeks for the full effect. Results last on average for 3-4 months, after which you will require a further treatment to maintain the look. Over time it is not uncommon for results to last longer with regular treatments.

How Safe is BOTOX ®?

BOTOX ® injections are an extremely safe treatment when conducted in the right hands. A full medical assessment and consent will be taken prior to any treatment.

Dr Dan Dhunna is a trained GP and Advanced Cosmetic Doctor having performed over an estimated 20 000 cosmetic injectable procedures!

He is a Member of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, The British College of Aesthetic Medicine and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.
He is also the Country Ambassador for ALLERGAN, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of BOTOX ® and Juvederm/ Voluma in the UK.

There are other versions of the medicine available from other manufacturers and clinics, (Dysport, Azzalure , Xeomin) these may not work as well as BOTOX ® and may cause more side effects such as spread to unwanted areas.

BOTOX ® is licensed in over 75 countries and has been used for over 12 years as a brand. It has an extensive safety profile and has over 4000 research papers written about it.
It is a Prescription Only Medicine and new guidelines by the General Medical Council enforce that the Prescribing Doctor must see the patient at the time of injection. Unfortunately this is a rule flouted by many!

Patients can be reassured that they are in safe hands as all consultations, treatments and reviews are performed by Dr Dan Dhunna himself.
Please Remember BOTOX ® is a Premium Product. Cheap deals and online sales are likely to use fake or diluted product and could cause serious potential harm.

What are the Side Effects?

Injected in the right hands BOTOX® is a very safe procedure.
Most of any Side Effects are caused by the entry of the very fine needle into the skin; these tend to be minor and very shortlived if they occur

  • Minimal discomfort
  • Mild redness or swelling of the injected area
  • Potential bleeding and bruising can occur

More serious side effects such as droopy eyelids and brows can occur but rarely do so in experienced medical hands. No such side effect is deemed permanent as BOTOX® produces temporary effects.

You must inform the medical professional of your full medical hjistory including any medications you are taking , allergies and reactions you may have had.

What is the aftercare?

  • Avoid lying down for a few hours immediately after treatment
  • Do not rub or massage the treated area for 12 hours after treatment
  • Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours and deep facials for a week

Who Should Not Have BOTOX ®?

Botox cannot be used in

  • Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women
  • Certain neuromuscular disorders such as Lambert Eaton Syndrome
  • It is not recommended for people under the age of 18 and not advisable over the age of 65; however Dr Dan Dhunna has extensive knowledge in treating over 60s and you will be dealt with on a case by case basis

Who Can Inject BOTOX ® ?

BOTOX ® is a prescription only medication and must only be injected by qualified and registered Doctors. New Regulations allow nurses to inject, and as most nurses are non prescribers, the patient must see the prescribing Doctor each time for a Face to Face Consultation. Remote Prescribing, commonly practiced in salons; where a nurse gains a prescription for BOTOX ® from a Doctor and the patient is injected without the Doctor physically seeing the patient breaks codes from the NMC (nursing midwifery council) and the GMC (general medical council) and practitioners can hence be reported and lose their license to practice. Patients are always encouraged to check the license and prescribing status of the injecting practitioner with the NMC, GMC or GDC before considering treatment.

Patients can rest assured as they are in competent hands as Dr Dan Dhunna performs all consultations, treatments and follow ups and has performed over 25 000 injectable procedures. He is a registered and revalidated Dr and GP with the General Medical Council and Member of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, The British College of Aesthetic Medicine and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine
