Hand Rejuvenation

The old saying that’s goes “If you want to know the age of woman, look at her hands!” unfortunately holds true. As we age, the skin of the back of the hands becomes sun damaged and dehydrated.

Collagen is lost leading to crepey skin and revealing the underlying veins and tendons.

Treatments and procedures to reduce the effects if ageing, wrinkles and volume loss in the face are common but the hands are often ignored.

The Hand Lift

Apart from the use of Hyaluronic Acid fillers such as Juvederm Voluma, there are other dermal filler options that provide proven results especially in the hand area.

Radiesse is a unique dermal filler which is FDA improved in the United States. It consists of a natural substance found in the body called Calcium Hydroxyapatite.

This is injected using fine needles just under the skin of the back of the hands. Anaesthetic is used, so this is essentially a very painless procedure. Not only does it instantly lift the tissue but it replaces lost volume over a period of months by building a framework of collagen in the skin.

The results are a natural, soft, volume replacement leaving the skin supple yet firm.

Another next generation collagen building dermal filler is Ellansé; it works on a similar system as Radiesse but its breakdown is far more uniform and is metabolised into basic carbon dioxide and water, must like normal human respiration. Designed to be even longer lasting it allows longevity of 1-2 years and gives a very natural, soft, lifted finish.

Further improvements on the surface of the skin can be achieved if required by the use of “Restylane Skinboosters”, Hyaluronic Acid injected just into the upper layers layers of the skin to improve texture and hydration further.

Frequently asked questions about the Hand Lift

Is it painful?

No. Small amounts of anaesthetic are lightly injected under the skin at the points of injection so you don’t feel the filler being injected.

What are the Side Effects?

In common with other dermal filler treatments, redness, swelling and bruising can occur. Some people may get a little immediate itching with Radiesse or Ellansé filler, this can be treated with some simple antihistamine tablets (hay fever tablets) if required.

How long does it last?

On average the Radiesse Hand Lift can last from up to 10 months. Some people need a top up of the treatment at about 3-4 months to maintain result. Ellansé can lasts 1-2 years and most people find they do not require an intermediary topups of product.
